Mr. Nathaniel Lawson, age 88, departed this life on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Pettigrew Rehabilitation Center in Durham, North Carolina. He was born on July 16, 1935 to the union of the late Louis Lawson and the late Willie Maude Ray Lawson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, four brothers and one sister-in-law: Margaret Lee Scott.
Mr. Nathaniel Lawson leaves to cherish his memory his wife Mary Betts Lawson of the home; five daughters: Teresa Lawson King (husband Ernest) of Virgilina, Virginia; Valerie McCullum (husband Marvin) of Roxboro, North Carolina; Inge’ Lawson-Finley (husband Morris) of Atlanta, Georgia; Dell Marie Lawson Cates (husband Jeffrey) of Garner, North Carolina; and Kimberly Shavon Lawson of Durham, North Carolina; three sisters: Otelia Brandon (husband Nowillis) of Semora, North Carolina; Dr. Queen Cannon (husband William “Dub”) of Burlington, North Carolina; and Willoree Perry (husband Attorney Robert); one brother Anthony Lee “Levoice” Lawson (wife Lisa) of Garner, North Carolina; one sister-in-law Bernice Betts Sams of Fayetteville, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Clinton King, Shannon Brown, Dana McCullum, Jasmine McCullum, Morris Nathan Finley, Gabrielle Pettiford and Raven Pettiford; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.
