Mr. Walter Isaiah Cooper, age 96, departed his Earthly life and entered his Heavenly home on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Compass Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Mebane, North Carolina.
Mr. Cooper was born in Orange County, North Carolina to the union of the late Isaiah Cooper and the late Lucinda Thompson Cooper. He was the last surviving member of the legendary musical group, The Cooper Four.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his wife Julia Smith Cooper; daughter Isiaetta Cooper Whitted; brother Ruben “Bill” Cooper; sisters: Maria Cooper Whitted and Ruth Mae Cooper; and additional family members.
Mr. Walter Isaiah Cooper leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Michael Hunter of Savannah, Georgia and Rodney Cooper of North Carolina; grandchildren: Benjamin Whitted of Wilmington, North Carolina; Kiana Hunter of Durham, North Carolina; Davin Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida; Rashad Hunter of Atlanta, Georgia; and Taylor Hunter of Washington, DC; nephew Aaron Wofford of Atlanta, Georgia; niece Rubena Cooper Woods of Durham, North Carolina; great nieces: Stareta “Star” Young Ragland of Concord, North Carolina; Stephanie Lipscomb of Durham, North Carolina; Cheryal “Plummie” Lipscomb of Gibsonville, North Carolina; and Reverend Liggonia “Tiny” Lucas of Delaware; and numerous loving additional relatives and friends.
