Mrs. Norma Jean Smith Pettiford, age 83, a native of Person County, North Carolina, was born on July 22, 1942. She departed her Earthly life and entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Duke Homecare and Hospice Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband William T. Pettiford; mother Christine Lawson; step-father Henry Spence Lawson; and brother Gattis Smith.
Mrs. Norma Jean Smith Pettiford leaves to cherish her memory her children: Amy Pettiford of Roxboro, North Carolina; Reverend Adam “Bill” Pettiford and wife Reverend Wanda of Timberlake, North Carolina; and Tammy Pettiford of Roxboro, North Carolina; brothers: Alphonso Smith and wife Denise of Greensboro, North Carolina; Otis Lawson and wife Janice of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Nathaniel Lawson and wife Mae Ruth of Kernersville, North Carolina; sisters: Geneva Comer of Allensville, North Carolina and Linda Cash Green and husband David of Roxboro, North Carolina; brother-in-law Jerry Williams of Roxboro, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Richard Jones; and Daniel Jones and wife Marianna of Raleigh, North Carolina; two great-grandchildren: Jalen Jones of Durham, North Carolina and Daniela Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina; and numerous loving additional relatives and friends.
