​Mrs. Nancy Virginia Hughes, age 96, of Milton, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Mrs. Nancy Virginia Hughes was born on January 18, 1926 to the late Jim and Pattie McCain Stamps. She was a native of Caswell County and was educated in the Caswell County School System. She was married to the late Clyde Reynolds Hughes and to this union, one child was born – the late Sheila Hughes Plenty.

Mrs. Hughes was employed at Danville Memorial Hospital and later retired from her duties there. She was a faithful member of High Street Baptist Church in Milton, North Carolina. 

In addition to her parents and daughter, Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by her son-in-law Larry Preston Plenty.

Mrs. Hughes leaves to cherish her memory her granddaughter LaKeisha Plenty-Bailey (husband Christian) of Semora, North Carolina; two grandsons Deacon Kristopher Bailey and Easton Hughes Bailey of Semora, North Carolina; one step great granddaughter Destinee Bailey of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister-in-law Flora McDuffie of Danville, Virginia; one brother-in-law Paul Herman Hughes of Danville, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
