Ms. Josephine Blackwell, age 72, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
She was a native of Person County, born to the union of the late Robert A. Blackwell and Annie Cornelious Mitchell Blackwell, who survives.
Ms. Blackwell was a graduate of Person County High School – “Class of 1969”. Later, she made her home in Durham, North Carolina.
In addition to her mother, Ms. Josephine Blackwell leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Nikisha Newman and Iman Abdur-Rahim, both of Durham, North Carolina; her son Thomas Antoine Blackwell of Durham, North Carolina; twin sister Colean Blackwell of Durham, North Carolina; sister Marion Jacobs (husband Wayman) of Roxboro, North Carolina; brothers Elder Robert O. Blackwell of Roxboro, North Carolina; and Reginald A. Blackwell and Danny Lynn Blackwell (wife Iris), both of Durham, North Carolina; grandchildren Khalil Jamal Blackwell, Aaralyn Charlize Newman and Hakeem J. Abdur-Rahim; and numerous loving nieces, nephews additional relatives and friends.
Public Viewing
There will be no Public Viewing. However, on Friday, September 15, 2023, visitors will have the opportunity to pay their respects by signing the Register Book, leaving cards and condolences and viewing a Slide Show Presentation.
