​Mr. J.L. “Hat” Williams, age 87, entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Carver Rehabilitation and Living Center in Durham, North Carolina. He was a native of Person County, born on December 22, 1934, to the union of the late Chillie Williams and the late Mary Ramsey Williams.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his son Jerry Ray; sister Bernice Williams McGhee; and brothers James Williams and Pete Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his daughters Jean Ray of Durham, North Carolina and Sylvia Holloway Satterfield (husband Randolph) and Annette Holloway, both of Roxboro, North Carolina; sister Dorothy Williams Johnson of Timberlake, North Carolina; aunt Sally Ramsey Chavis of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, additional relatives and friends.
