Mrs. Nannie Elizabeth Williams Lester, age 91, departed her Earthly life and entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Roxboro Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Roxboro, North Carolina.
She was a native of Person County, North Carolina, born on September 23, 1934 to the late Fred Williams and the late Nannie Harris Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Maxie Lester; son Larry Lester; grandchildren Tracey Pettiford and Jennifer Bowman; and siblings: Mattie Banks, Terry Williams and Ulysses Brann; and sister-in-law Catherine Williams.
Mrs. Nannie Elizabeth Williams Lester leaves to cherish her memory her children: Maxie Lester of Yonkers, New York; and Jennifer Lester and Gloria Raynor, both of Roxboro, North Carolina; grandchildren: Tameka Jefferys Brown (husband Gene), Michael Lester, Darryl Jefferys, Theodrick Thomas, Kendrick Jefferys and Sedrick Jefferys, all of Roxboro, North Carolina; and April Pettiford, Michael Pettiford, Angela Steadman (husband Eric), Kimberly Pettiford. Maxie Pettiford, Tamika Pettiford and Latisha Pettiford, all of New York; siblings: Jerry Williams of Roxboro, North Carolina; Barry Williams (wife Cynthia) of Semora, North Carolina; and Frank Newman (wife Phyllis) of Roxboro, North Carolina; and numerous loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.
