Mr. Junious Lee Poteat, Sr., also known as “Pop”, age 81, transitioned from his earthly life to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
He was a native of Person County, born on October 23, 1942, to the union of the late Bennie Lee Poteat and the late Katie Lou Harris Poteat. Mr. Poteat served his country and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Iris Thomas Poteat; second wife Tanya Poteat; brother Lafayette Poteat; son Corey Angelo Poteat; daughter Christy Poteat; daughter-in-law Stephanie Poteat; and great-nephew Christian Poteat.
Mr. Junious Lee Poteat, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: his children – two sons: Gary Lee Poteat, Sr. and Keith Poteat, Sr.; three daughters: DeLeatrice Poteat and twins Brenda Poteat-Hamilton (Darius) and Linda Kay Poteat; twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; niece Tiffany Poteat Frausto; great-niece Shanelle Green; partner Ms. Betty Taborn Cunningham; extended family Bernice Jonson and Family; and many additional loving family members and friends.
