​Ms. Sadie Mae Burton, age 72, of Durham, North Carolina, departed this life on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Duke Hospice-Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Burton Clay; her grandparents who raised her Roy Burton and Liza Burton; and one brother Donald Earl Clay.

Ms. Sadie Mae Burton leaves to cherish her memory one sister Tracy Clay Hunter of Roxboro, North Carolina; one “like a sister” Mary Clayton (husband Bryce) of Allensville, North Carolina; two “like sons” Ralph Turrentine (wife Gwen) of Durham, North Carolina and Taurus Clayton of Roxboro, North Carolina; one nephew Donald “DJ” Clay, Jr. (wife Elizabeth) of Phoenix, Arizona; one great niece Donna Marie Clay of Phoenix, Arizona; special friends Sandra Armstrong (husband Gordon), Mattie Gant (husband William) and Lonzell Lunsford, all of Durham, North Carolina; and numerous additional loving relatives and friends.
