Mr. Nello Speed, age 65, was born on December 21, 1959 in Granville County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. After a brief stay in Silver Spring, Maryland, he made his home in Person County and was a member of New Hope Granville Missionary Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and loved his family and community. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the Roxboro Drag Strip where he admired the fast cars and drag car racing. Mr. Speed was a member of Person Senior High School, “Class of 1979”.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Mildred Harris Speed; sister Wanda Gail Fuller; and grandparents Johnnie Harris and Annie Brooks Harris.
Mr. Nello Speed leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Swanita Fuller (Ronnie) of Roxboro, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Oviana Smith and Jailin Smith and two great-grandchildren: Logan Jones and Avani McCain, all of Roxboro, North Carolina; father Charlie "Nelson" Speed of Timberlake, North Carolina; five siblings: Nelvyn Speed of Durham, North Carolina; Marion Jay of Timberlake, North Carolina; Melvin Speed (Sarita) of Silver Spring, Maryland; Barbara Hughes (Wayne) of Semora, North Carolina; and Penny Speed of Timberlake, North Carolina; God sister Nancy Davenport of Durham, North Carolina; bonus daughter Nickgail Fuller of Timberlake, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving relatives and dear friends.
