First Lady Gwendolyn Pettiford Glass, age 67, departed this life and entered into eternal rest at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, North Carolina on January 10, 2024.
She was born May 17, 1956, in Person County, to the late S. T. Pettiford, Sr. and Omega Talley Pettiford. A faithful member of the Old Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, she served on the Pastor’s Aide and Missionary Ministries, as well as Assistant Youth Choir Director. After graduating from Person Senior High School - Class of 1974 - she retired from the Person County Schools Food & Nutrition Department after eighteen years of service.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of thirty-seven years, Rev. Clyde A. Glass, Jr. of the home; two daughters: Kerisha L. Pettiford of Raleigh, North Carolina and Shakira J. Glass of the home; two sons: Calvin D. Allen (LaQuetta) of Roxboro and Antonio E. Glass of Morrisville, North Carolina; one sister, Shirley Diane Winstead (James) of Roxboro; one brother S. T. Pettiford, Jr. (Nancy) of Falls Church, Virginia; five grandchildren: Kinston, Braesyn, Kindall, Jayden and Kinlynn all of Roxboro; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
