Mrs. Thelma Bailey Sanford, age 73, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Cypress Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Reidsville, North Carolina.
She was a native of Person County, born to the union of the late John Solomon Bailey and the late Virtie Street Bailey.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sanford was preceded in death by her husband Charles Douglas Sanford, Sr.; son Charles Douglas Sanford, Jr.; daughters Tracey Laverne Sanford and Tracey Louise Sanford; and brother Leroy Bailey.
Mrs. Thelma Bailey Sanford leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Wendy Sanford of Burlington, North Carolina; six grandchildren Tinesha Pettiford of Pelham, North Carolina; Antonio Pettiford, LaShanda Pettiford, Antoine Pettiford and TaShawn Pettiford (wife Jessica), all of Burlington, North Carolina; and Antrell Pettiford of Yanceyville, North Carolina; one God grandchild Shynequa King (husband Marc) of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina; thirty-one great grandchildren; four brothers Robert Bailey and Melvin Bailey, both of Roxboro, North Carolina; John Bailey of Burlington, North Carolina; and James Bailey of Durham, North Carolina; five sisters Mary Snipes of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina; Annie Swan of Mebane, North Carolina; Lillie Bailey of Durham, North Carolina; Rosa Bailey of Burlington, North Carolina; and Ruth Bailey of Roxboro, North Carolina.
