Geneva Clayton Petty, age 70, of 2157 East Hyco Road in South Boston, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016  at her home.

Geneva Clayton Petty was a member of the Prospect Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was the president of the Missionary Circle, and a member of the Spiritual Choir, and the Culinary Committee. Geneva Clayton Petty is survived by two sons -- Steven J. Petty (wife Cynthia) of Roxboro, North Carolina and Stanley K. Petty of South Boston, Virginia.  She is also survived by her brother, Ulysses Clayton of Asheboro, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law -- Aldean Petty of Florida; Barbara Petty of Washington, DC and Frances Petty of Michigan.; and two grandchildren – Cinzia A. Petty of Roxboro, North Carolina and Stavanna A Petty of Roxboro, North Carolina in addition to a host of additional relatives and friends.

Major Short, Sr.
would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness that they received after the death of their loved one.


Major Short Sr, age 79, of 830 Durham Road in Roxboro, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday November 15, 2017 at his home.

Major Short, Sr. is survived by three children – Teresa Thomas of Oxon Hill, Maryland; Little Major Short Jr of Roxboro, North Carolina; and Carolyn Short Wilson (husband Stanley). He is also survived by three sisters – Annie Mae Short Brown of Wallace, South Carolina; Marie Short of Cheraw, South Carolina; and Catherine Short Foster of Wallace, South Carolina; two brothers – Curtis Lee Short of Roxboro, North Carolina; and James Edward Short of Cheraw, South Carolina. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of additional relatives and friends.
