Mr. Alonzo Russell, age 53, departed this life on January 31, 2020. He was a native of Person County and a member of Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Alonzo was a member of the Person Senior High School “Class of 1984”. He was employed by the United States Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents Annie Beatrice Russell and Bryce Pettiford; maternal grandparents Annie Margaret Russell and James Russell; Paternal grandparents Pauline Pettiford and Jule Pettiford; brother Bryce Carlton “Carl” Pettiford; aunts Janie Faye Russell and Debra Russell Haugabrook; and uncles Dewey Pettiford and Lawrence Pettiford.

Alonzo is survived by his wife Deana Ragland Russell, one daughter Zoe Russell and one son Ian Russell all of the home; one sister Stacey Pettiford of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother Preston Pettiford of Roxboro, North Carolina; aunts Madeline Williams (Curry) and Geraldine Thomas (Garland) both of Roxboro, North Carolina; uncles Willie Torain of Portsmouth, Virginia; Anthony Carl Russell (Tina) of Vaux Hall, New Jersey; Leonard Pettiford and Glenn Pettiford, both of Roxboro, North Carolina; Haywood “Bo” Russell (Kaye) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Joseph Russell (Linda-LeMay) of Timberlake, North Carolina; and Ronnie Russell (Roxie) of Roxboro, North Carolina; one niece Avey Gibbs of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of additional relatives and friends.
