Mr. Melvin Lendia Pettiford, age 66, departed this life on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Carver Rehabilitation and Living Center in Durham, North Carolina. He was the son of the Late Burley Lendia Pettiford and Emma Sue Hester Pettiford of Roxboro, North Carolina.  

He was educated in the Person County Schools System and was a member of Young’s Chapel Baptist Church.  

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son Jonathan Pettiford of Roxboro, North Carolina; two sisters Beverly P. Lindsey (husband Luther) of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Veronica Dean Pettiford of Durham, North Carolina; three brothers Danny L. Pettiford (wife Sylvia), Reubin Greg Pettiford, both of Roxboro, North Carolina and Stacey F. Pettiford (wife Sandra) of Durham, North Carolina; two aunts Ophelia Richardson of Roxboro, North Carolina and Nellie Chavis of Greensboro, North Carolina; two uncles Detroy Hester of Capitol Heights, Maryland and McArthur Pettiford (wife Debra) of Graham, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
