Geneva Clayton Petty, age 70, of 2157 East Hyco Road in South Boston, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016  at her home.

Geneva Clayton Petty was a member of the Prospect Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was the president of the Missionary Circle, and a member of the Spiritual Choir, and the Culinary Committee. Geneva Clayton Petty is survived by two sons -- Steven J. Petty (wife Cynthia) of Roxboro, North Carolina and Stanley K. Petty of South Boston, Virginia.  She is also survived by her brother, Ulysses Clayton of Asheboro, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law -- Aldean Petty of Florida; Barbara Petty of Washington, DC and Frances Petty of Michigan.; and two grandchildren – Cinzia A. Petty of Roxboro, North Carolina and Stavanna A Petty of Roxboro, North Carolina in addition to a host of additional relatives and friends.

Gladys Marie Wagstaff Jeffers was born in Durham County, North Carolina. She moved to Person County at an early age with her family. She attended Person County Schools and graduated Person County High  School in 1952. She went on to graduate from Winston Salem Teachers College (Winston Salem State University). She retired from Person County Schools in 1989. She loved being an educator and continued to substitute teach frequently accepting long term assignments until 2012. As an educator, she dedicated fifty-three years of her life to the profession.

She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Wagstaff Bolton, father Jasper Clay, step-father James Bolton and her youngest daughter Susan Denise Jeffers.

She is survived by her husband, Levi Jeffers of the home, daughter Candiss J. Summers of the home, three grandsons, Frederick J. Slade, Brandon Jay Jeffers 
(Tarnisha), Brannon Ray Jeffers (Treco); a host of great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews  and other loving relatives and friends.
